ESL Conversation Practice That Actually Works
Reading and grammar drills only get you so far. Spoken confidence is built through structured, low-pressure conversation — here's how to make it stick.
Most ESL learners can read and write more capably than they speak. The gap is not knowledge — it is practice in real time, with a real listener, on topics that matter to them.
Talk about what you actually care about
Conversation practice works when the topic is relevant. Talking about your work, your week, or a current event you have an opinion on builds vocabulary that sticks, because you will reuse it.
Slow down, then speed up
Speak at a pace where you can choose the right word. Fluency is built on accuracy first; speed comes naturally once your sentences stop collapsing mid-way.
Get corrected — kindly
Errors that are never pointed out become permanent. A good conversation partner notes patterns, gently corrects, and explains the rule — without interrupting the flow.
Our ESL conversation sessions are structured around the situations clients actually face: job interviews, client calls, school meetings, and everyday Canadian life.
